THE SUMMER'S TREASON
I have made only very minor cuts in the script of The Summer's Treason. The play was presented during the summer of 1958, at the Provincetown Playhouse in Provincetown, Massachusetts. I can remember nothing about the production, other than the fact that Catharine Huntington, the actress who played Katherine Pommeroy, could remember none of her lines. Catharine was a very old, very dear friend, so I forgive her everything.
In re-reading the play now, I cannot help but think of my own brother. We obviously felt murderous feelings toward each other, but I have never realized the depth of those feelings before.
